Discovering Albania on a motorcycle tour is truly an unforgettable adventure – especially when the route includes Lake Koman and the Holta Canyon.

This type of journey offers a unique opportunity to experience the country’s breathtaking landscapes and rich culture up close.

Lake Koman is one of Albania’s most stunning natural wonders. Crossing the lake by ferry is a special experience in itself: the reflection of the mountain peaks and lush green forests on the water creates a scene straight out of a postcard.

Continuing the journey, we head towards the Holta Canyon, where dramatic rock formations and the winding river valley offer a truly spectacular view. It’s the perfect destination for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.

But this tour isn’t just about the sights – it’s also about sharing memorable moments with friends. The time spent together, the joint discoveries, and the stories created along the way turn this trip into a true motorcycling community experience. Lake Komani and the Holta Canyon are undoubtedly the highlights of the journey, making it an adventure to remember for a lifetime.

You can also join the motorcycle tour with your own bike. After you sign up, we’ll get in touch with you to arrange the meeting point and time.

We will meet at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, where our private minibus will be waiting for you. From there, we’ll travel approximately 130 km to Kiskunmajsa, where we’ll check into our first accommodation. Our stay will be at a charming countryside guesthouse run by a friend — a cozy spot on the Great Hungarian Plain, complete with a swimming pool and a traditional wooden hot tub for relaxing.

In the afternoon, we’ll receive our motorcycles and hold a detailed briefing about the tour itinerary, route, and safety rules to ensure everyone is well-prepared for the journey. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a rich and authentic Hungarian dinner — a perfect introduction to local flavors and a great opportunity to get to know each other.

Our journey takes us to the town of Kusici. The first day is relatively uneventful, as we mostly travel on the highway. As we cross Serbia, we keep a steady pace to reach the truly stunning landscapes as soon as possible and spend as little time as we can on the monotonous motorway. We’ll spend the night in Kusici, Serbia, where our first accommodation is located.

Breakfast at 8:00 AM, departure at 9:00 AM from Serbia. Along the way, we’ll cross the border into Montenegro, and shortly after, into Albania. From there, we’ll continue our ride on the scenic SH20 road. Our accommodation for the night will be in the town of Mjede.

This day is packed with sights and unforgettable moments – and we’ll be enjoying the curves so much, they might just bring tears to our eyes… of pure joy, of course!

Breakfast is at 6:00 AM, and departure is no later than 6:30 AM. You should arrive at breakfast fully geared up, as we need to reach the ferry at Lake Koman by 7:30 AM at the latest. We’ll be taking the SH25 road to get there — a route that has seen some improvements over the years, with varying levels of success. The road is paved, but a roughly 30 km stretch is in poor condition. That said, it’s still manageable (not off-road).

The ferry ride takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. After disembarking, we’ll continue on the SH22, a relatively narrow and winding road with asphalt surface, countless curves, and breathtaking views. From there, we’ll join the SH5, which takes us back to the town of Mjede and our accommodation.

The best part? We won’t need to carry our luggage on this day, so we can fully enjoy the mountain roads of Albania in comfort and without extra weight.

Breakfast at 8:00 AM, departure at 9:00 AM. Our destination for the day is the city of Elbasan, but as any motorcyclist knows, we never take the straight and easy route. We’ll begin on the SH5 road, then turn onto the SH40 to soak in the varied landscape and enjoy some thrilling curves.

We’ll take a short break at a gas station along the highway, then continue our ride through Tirana and on to Elbasan. This day, too, promises no shortage of twists, turns, and spectacular views.

By evening, we’ll arrive at our accommodation, which features a swimming pool – the perfect spot to relax with a refreshing dip and reflect on the day’s adventures.

Breakfast is at 8:00 AM, and departure is at 9:00 AM. Our luggage will stay at the accommodation, so just bring swimwear, a towel, and some shoes suitable for walking in the canyon. We’ll park the motorcycles in the parking lot near the canyon entrance, right by the bar, then change and head towards the canyon.

We’ll walk in the riverbed, but in some places, we’ll need to walk through the river itself. How wet we get depends on the water level. After the canyon, we’ll sit down for lunch or coffee at the bar near the entrance, then in the afternoon, we’ll head back to our accommodation. This will be a relaxed, easygoing day.

Breakfast at 8:00 AM, departure at 9:00 AM from Elbasan to Zabljak, Montenegro. Our route takes us towards Podgorica, then across the perfectly paved road through the Moraca Canyon, and up to the Tara Canyon, where we’ll reach our accommodation in Zabljak. This day will also be filled with plenty of curves and breathtaking views. The daily distance is approximately 370 km.

Breakfast at 8:00 AM, departure at 9:00 AM. We’ll start our journey from Zabljak towards the stunning Durmitor National Park, where we’ll stop to take a few photos to capture the beauty of the mountains and nature. After that, we’ll continue our ride to the Piva Canyon, which also offers breathtaking views. Once we leave the canyon, we’ll cross the border into Bosnia, and then ride through the town of Foca, heading towards Sarajevo.

Although the distance isn’t long in terms of kilometers, we’ll have plenty of time to stop and explore the old town of Sarajevo. The narrow, winding streets, historic buildings, and unique atmosphere of the city will surely enchant us as we take a short sightseeing tour. This day will be not only about riding, but also about immersing ourselves in the local culture and history.

Breakfast at 8:00 AM, departure at 9:00 AM. The day has come for our last ride, heading towards Hungary. We’ll enjoy a few final winding stretches through the mountains before crossing the border into Croatia, and then continue our journey into Hungary.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to our starting point in Kiskunmajsa, where the tour concludes. Here, we’ll drop off the motorcycles and be treated to a delicious dinner to celebrate the successful journey. For those who’d like, there will be an opportunity to relax and take a refreshing dip in the pool.

In the morning, we pack up and load our luggage into the minibus, then head to the airport. Although our adventure-filled tour comes to an end, the memories will stay with us for a long time. This is where we say goodbye — but hopefully not for long. We look forward to seeing you again on another unforgettable journey!

Some information for calculating your budget:

Required documents:
A visa is not required for entry into any of the countries, however, since motorcyclists may be arriving from outside of Europe, we will check this after your registration and notify you if a visa is necessary.

Driver’s License:
When registering, you need to specify which type of motorcycle you would like to use during the tour. We will ask for your driver’s license to verify that it is valid for the motorcycle category. If you have an A2 license, we also have motorcycles available that are suitable for that category.

Flight tickets:
After paying the 20% deposit for the participation fee, we can arrange your flight tickets. The cost of the flight is included in the tour price up to 200€. If the flight costs exceed 200€, you will need to pay the difference, but we will discuss this with you before purchasing the ticket. If you’d like to arrive earlier in Budapest and explore the city a bit, we’d be happy to help organize this for you. We will finalize the details after registration. If your flight arrives earlier or departs later than the tour dates, we will assist with booking accommodation and organizing programs, which we will also finalize with you.

Transportation:
Traffic in the Balkans is a bit different from that in Europe, as driving tends to be more dynamic. Therefore, you’ll need to pay a bit more attention to driving, but we are sure that you will enjoy the experience.

Money:
Euros are accepted almost everywhere, but in Bosnia, the currency is KM (Convertible Marka), and in Albania, the currency is LEK. You will need to exchange money for daily expenses, but the amount is not large—around 15 EUR/day. We will assist with currency exchange to ensure you get the best rates. Many places accept credit cards, though in Albania, cash is primarily used.

Fuel:
Fuel is included in the tour price, so there will be no issues with refueling.

Meals:
The majority of the meals consist of grilled meats, including pork, beef, and lamb. If you have any food allergies, please inform us in advance so that we can assist you with meal options during the tour.

Tour Cancellation Conditions and Process:

Payment Deadline:
You need to pay a 20% deposit of the tour price within 14 days of your registration, which is non-refundable in case of cancellation. The remaining 80% must be paid by the registration deadline. (If you register early, the deposit payment is only due if we inform you about it. This means we won’t hold onto your money unnecessarily. If the tour doesn’t reach the required number of participants and gets canceled, the paid amount will be refunded, or you won’t have to pay anything.)

Cancellation after the Registration Deadline:
If you cancel after the registration deadline, the full amount will be charged, and we will not be able to refund the paid amount.

Failure to Pay by the Deadline:
If the tour price is not received by us by the payment deadline, your registration will be automatically canceled.

You can read more about this in the participation rules!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at contact@alexandramotor.com. If you have no further questions, all that’s left is to register!
